Literacy Frameworks

Research shows that small group reading and writing instruction is very effective for students to grow in their literacy development.

In order to be able to run small group instruction in your classroom, you will need to set up a structure that allows students to be engaged in their learning.

Here are some ideas and websites that you can use to find information on how to set up structures to allow students to practice what you have taught them in mini lessons and gives you uninterrupted time to work with your groups. Many teachers use parts of a few different structures to enable it to work in their own classroom.

Keep in mind that these are structures, not the instruction itself.
