DISTRICT PROFESSIONAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

TEDxYouth@Langley
Friday, April 3 [Register]
TEDxYouth@Langley 2020 wants to give our community an opportunity to discuss education and drive change towards a stronger, healthier community. By reaching out to members of our community, TEDxYouth@Langley is creating a safe space to discuss ideas on how to improve the school experience and share the stories of students. We want to encourage connectivity and engagement in schools and bring some of the issues we face in education to light.

Lens on Play Inquiry Showcase
Tuesday, April 21 [Register]
Join us for an informal sharing session from the Lens on Play Inquiry Group. This group of teachers met 3 times this past year to deep dive into the Ministry of Education’s newly expanded Early Learning Framework and newly released Play Today Handbook for K-3 teachers. Groups explored different types of play as well as how to nurture play, develop playful classroom cultures and environments as well as the documentation of student learning.

Attn: Graphic Design/Marketing Students
The SD35/Municipal Liaison Committee would like to give students an opportunity to showcase their talents in creating a graphic to accompany messaging for a social media blitz, “Theft from Auto.” This will help educate the public about one of the highest crimes in Langley. Chosen images will be shared on the City’s (and possibly the RCMP’s) social media outlets. Submissions can be sent to Paula Kusack at the City of Langley (pkusack@langleycity.ca) by April 30th.
