Setting up your Microsoft Class Team
- Audience: Elementary/Middle school teachers
- Delivery: Virtual Teams Meeting
Through this virtual workshop, teachers will need to prepare their Class Teams to proactively prepare students for possible disruptions to the physical classroom. This hands on session will walk through the basics of creating a Class Team with a starter activity for your students in building classroom community.
Teachers could meet together and project from one Teams log in or teachers can individually log in.
What you need:
- A computer with Teams
- A second device to participate and follow along with the virtual workshop
- Ideas for the types of Channels you might want

KSP – Kindergarten Screening Protocol
December 9 [Register]
Come learn about our School District’s formative assessment for literacy skills in Kindergarten. This protocol, done in January, gives teachers information about learners so they have adequate time within the school year to respond to the student’s needs. Learn playful activities to help our Kindergartners gain the skills and experiences that will help them develop into confident readers and writers.
Shuffling into Math Card Games – Primary Math Games with Jane Felling from Box Cars and One-Eyed Jacks

Hosted by the Langley Primary Association. We need to keep our students active and engaged in meaningful, hands-on math games and activities. Come prepared to play Jane’s best card games that can be played in all settings, small groups, centers, whole class with social distancing practices, home if being taught remotely. Participants will learn how to use games daily in your math program, how to develop math journals and math talk extensions, and how to differentiate the games to meet the needs of all students.
Odyssey: Calls to Action – Building Capacity, Understanding and Mutual Respect

As we continue our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation in Langley Schools, our focus for Odyssey this year is on enhancing Indigenous student achievement and integrating Indigenous world views and perspectives into learning environments. As Justice Sinclair said, “Education is the key to reconciliation.” Our presenters will use the educational Calls to Action outlined in the Truth and Reconciliation document to guide their learning with you and the First Peoples Principles of Learning will be forefront. Odyssey 2021 connects to our work on Ensouling our Schools which has focused on creating compassionate learning communities which nurture the gifts of all of our learners.

Aboriginal Program Cultural Presentations Booking
The cultural presentation program is accepting bookings for the 2020-2021 school year. Bookings can be completed through the Cultural Presentation program website here . All bookings must be done using a school district email and each teacher can only book for themselves. Due to COVID 19 health and safety protocols, some activities have been modified or cancelled and some of the presentations are only available virtually. Screenagers Film Available to Teachers Until December 1st
Sponsored by Langley City, this is a highly acclaimed (and much recommended by Dawne!) and engaging film for both parents and for students. The Langley Children Committee has licensed the documentary Screenagers: Next Chapter and would like to offer all Langley staff and teachers the option to watch the film with your class for free (on demand) until December 1st. This is a film that examines the science behind teen’s emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help them build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital age. BC ESL Assessment Consortium Art Contest – $500
BC students in Grades 9 to 12 are invited to participate in an art contest sponsored by the BC ESL Assessment Consortium. Students are challenged to exercise their creativity and submit an original piece of work based on specific criteria provided by the consortium. The theme is ‘At the Park.’ A digital image or scanned copy of your entry must be submitted by January 11, 2021 to artcontest@sd35.bc.ca.
