EXTERNAL STUDENT/STAFF OPPORTUNITIES and LEARNING RESOURCES

FREE COURSE FROM SET BC
“The inclusion of Aboriginal perspectives and knowledge is based on the understanding that Aboriginal perspectives and knowledge are a part of the historical and contemporary foundation of BC and Canada. An important goal in integrating Aboriginal perspectives into curricula is to ensure that all learners have opportunities to understand and respect their own cultural heritage as well as that of others…” BC Curriculum – Aboriginal Education

Inherent in the First Peoples Principles of Learning is the concept and philosophy of the interconnectedness of life and learning within daily life. Thus, the principles should not be seen as a list of criteria or standards to be met in the curriculum, but rather, a way of understanding the world and perspectives through the lens of our First Peoples of British Columbia.

This course explores examples and strategies of ways teachers can use technology-based projects aligned with the First Peoples Principles of Learning to begin infusing a First People’s perspective into their classroom environment and community. For more information, click here.

My Math Path – Grades 1-8
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Nelson opened access to a wide-selection of its K12 resources through the MyNelson Open Access program. Now, as we start heading back to the classroom, Nelson is focused on keeping math skills sharp by providing practice materials from our newest resource, My Math Path 1-8.

Hundreds of worksheets and resources are now available with a free trial of our newest math product, My Math Path 1-8. My Math Path 1-8 is based on the Singapore Math approach and relies heavily on visualization, model drawing and the concrete-pictorial abstract approach to solve problems. The resource has been aligned to support the WNCP curriculum. Get started now.
