Lesson Planning is the best way to ensure you are going to retain student engagement. SIOP highly recommends you start by displaying Content & Language Objectives and there is word list with examples below which can help you easily begin.

Displaying & Writing Objectives
Content Objectives:
- Drawn from BC Ministry standards
- Can use language directly from the curricular competencies
- Verbs to use: identify, analyze, rank, construct, graph, divide, solve, visualize, design, discover, research, compare/contrast, compute.
Language Objectives:
- Uses verbs related to listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Address the language needed to achieve the content objectives.
- Verbs to use: read, write, listen, list, tell, discuss, journal, record, persuade, debate, draft, describe, explain, converse, quick write, log.
